Chameleon Pop, a genre coined by San Bernardino’s Royaljag, blends various genres in order to produce music that everyone can vibe with. Considering their influences: Tame Impala, Michael Jackson, Vulfpeck, ABBA, Native Tongue, Stevie Wonder, and Prince, it is no wonder that their music is riddled with sparkles of 80s inspired synth, funky with a Neo Soul twist, danceable with Disco beats, and completed with a dash of smooth R&B. The band is comprised of twins, J. and Roland Garcia and long time best friend to the brothers, David Ajoku. Their EP Chameleon, seemingly named after their innovative genre, showcases the band’s talent for songwriting through their array of infectious melodies and rhythms. Unwind with my personal favorite, “Daydream” or get your groove on with their most popular song “Jungle” (which was featured on KROQ), Royaljag has you covered.
