Interview questions

ANDRE

1. When did you first find your love of music?

I first found my true love of music when my parents gave my brother and I our first analog alarm clock, which happened to also be a radio. When they would be gone, we would play all the radio stations with the music we liked. I sat in front of that radio for hours some days.

2. What has it been like writing and recording your new music?

It's been so much fun making my music. It's also been a bit scary at times because of the transparency I try to put into my music. So I'm nervous about even putting it out sometimes, but that's the double edged sword of it all. I love the music I make, but it's also a therapy release which can be scary at times!

3. In 3 words, how would you describe your style of music?

Relatable, Transparent, Growing!

4. How did you hear about Vove?

Through a friend who's actually working for VOVE. He recommended that I submit for the writing camp, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

5. What has it been like working with our production team?

The production team has been second to none. The whole team is extremely knowledgeable as well as inquisitive, and just wanna be the best we can be. I loved every second of working with the extremely talented individuals who make the team up.

6. A fun fact about yourself?

I'll be releasing a project this year and it'll be my first full length original project since 2016!

CLAIRA DE LUNE / @claira.de.lune

1. When did you first find your love of music?

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always been in love with music. When I got my first guitar in middle school I was instantly hooked. My whole life has been engulfed in the arts so it was a natural love for me. There was never of question of it - performing, songwriting, & singing was what I wanted to do and what I feel I’m meant to do.

2. What has it been like writing and recording your new music?

Working with Vove has been a blast! I had worked with other musicians in the past but this was different. From brainstorming ideas on the first day to laying the whole track down, every step of the process included everybody. Those moments where we all went “Yeah that’s it!” were really special. I’m really excited for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on

3. In 3 words, how would you describe your style of music?

Ethereal, Passionate, Colorful!

4. How did you hear about Vove?

On instagram actually! I was following a few music students to get a feel of the program at Northridge since I’ll be applying for transfer in the future & came across an instagram story. I swiped up, applied and the rest is history.

5. What has it been like working with our production team?

Working with the producers has been incredible. I’m so used to doing everything by myself in my bedroom so to be able to go into a studio to work with students and professionals is such a gift. Our producers made me feel so comfortable the first day. When we started writing everything flowed so easily and everyone was supportive of each others ideas. Recording day at HypeStudios was so much fun, we got so inspired and added some new elements to the track. The producers are so talented it’s going to sound amazing, and can’t wait to share with everyone.

6. A fun fact about yourself?

I am studying jazz vocal performance at Santa Monica College!

Bella Labya

1. When did you first find your love of music?

My passion for music began earlier than I can remember. My parents love to tell the story of my first birthday when I stood in my high chair and danced to the mariachi band playing at our favorite restaurant. My dad often recalls the moment he realized I could sing. I was still in a car seat, singing along to Alicia Keys. As I grew older, I continued to sing and write songs but it was over the pandemic that I started to look at songwriting as more than a hobby.

2. What has it been like writing and recording your new music?

It’s honestly been a good challenge writing and recording new music. Before VoVE, home recording was my primary way to create my own songs. The collaborative environment in a studio is something completely different than I’m used to but it was certainly a welcome change.

3. In 3 words, how would you describe your style of music?

Lush, lively, and catchy.

4. How did you hear about Vove?

In December of 2021, I had the opportunity of performing with Jam n Slate for VoVE’s Artist of the Year showcase.

5. What has it been like working with our production team?

It’s been a new and fun experience working with VoVE’s production team. They were very helpful and reassuring during the writing and recording process. I really enjoyed my time with them in the studio.

6. A fun fact about yourself?

I wrote the song I’m most proud of on my guitar that only had 4 strings at the time.
