Young Lovers’ music is heartbreaking in the best ways. Their use of space and build up allows you the time to gather your thoughts and emotions, and poise your body for some really genuine and expressive music. I revisit my hardest memories when witnessing this band live, and I adore their ability to hit that so strongly. Joshua Solomon’s solo on bass takes the time to blossom and develop with beauty, a musical theme present in the band’s music that I have come to love. Their presence onstage is captivating and solid, and their music is truly cinematic. Their love for film is clearly demonstrated during the intro to one of their songs, which samples Richard Linklater’s “Before Sunset”. When this band follows up with another release, we should all pay close attention and give this band the love they deserve. Let’s make a promise to keep up with this band, to stay this sweet and tragic.
