Echo Park post-punkers Billy Changer hold a New Wave sentiment against their dreamy tunes, with a cathartic romance and style that reaches back to the days of Joy Division and The Cure. Their supporting set at the Zebulon Café Concert was phenomenal. The up and coming venue was packed for the second night of The Entire Universe’s September-October residency, and Billy Changer earned every ounce of the audience’s love which was portrayed in every dance step and head bop of each fan. Their single “She’s Good to Go” asks us to just jump in the car already and join their ride. Catchy, ethereal guitar riffs and atmospheres bite into you while building to a climactic ending that places us at the precipice of our dreams of self-fulfillment, realized through “her” story- perhaps a lover, perhaps a stranger, but definitely a love, moving on in life. Their songs are definitely worth a line of consecutive listens. Check them out, and catch a show of theirs when they get back from Texas.
